New blog and Coaching session

Well I decided to start a blog mainly for myself to track my own progress as a player and organize my thoughts so I don't feel like my head is spinning at times. I'm basically going to be just unloading whatevers on my mind with poker, finance, investing, and business. No real goals with this blog other than to keep me focused on improving in both areas of investing and poker. At the moment, alot of my time is primarily spend focusing on poker since i'm in the process of trying to win a $52k jackpot on the site that I play, cake poker. Basically the site awards whoever pays the most in rake pretty much as an easy way of explaining it, but for the players that are in the top 5 in the runnings.. theres an element of luck because if any of those 5 players runs lucky near the end they can win the whole thing even though they don't have the most overall gold cards and didn't pay the most overall rake.

I believe at the moment i'm in the lead because I definitely play the most hands and pay the most rake on the site (was also told a few months back by some inside sources at cake poker that I was in the lead but i'm not nearly as confident now with my status). I wouldn't be surprised frankly if I lost it... at least i've been making money and rakeback the whole time though so i'm content with that. The only downside would be though that while 12 tabling at $1/2 nl i'm not really improving much as a player which is definitely one of my long term goals. I have played stakes all the way up to 10/20 nl when games are good and regularly at 5/10 nl.

But in the process of trying to win this jackpot I decided to drop the # of tables so I could generate more rake in easier games with less variance. I felt that 12 tabling 1/2 nl would be easier more consistent money as well as more rake (more gold cards for jackpot) instead of just 6 tabling 5/10 or something since alot of the time 5/10 nl only has like 2-3 games running anyway. I'll update later on the jackpot but as of right now i'm just focusing on continuing to play alot of hands and hoping I win it, if not... meh.

Also recently found out about 2 new casinos that were opened in West Virginia that i've heard are reaaaaaaally soft games so I am taking a trip down there this weekend with some friends. The casinos are actually like 2 hours from where I went to college, if they were there when I was in school I woulda went to class even less than I already did... probably flunking out, but I did finish it up back in May. I ordered a new laptop for poker since i'm going to be doing alot of traveling and can't take my desktop with me but still will wanna play on the road. Also ordered a pretty sweet device I didn't know about which will let me use the laptop with my two flat screens I already have so it'll basically be like a desktop when i'm at home that I can take on the road when traveling. http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/gxm/products/dh2go/digital/home.php

Will be getting that in a few days and definitely wanna try that out with me this weekend when I head out to the casino. If the games are that good at this new casino, then I might end up just giving live poker a month or so shot as an experient to see how I like it and how profitable the games are. Also in January am planning to head out to the Borgata Winter Open to play in all the events $1500 and lower which comes out to 11 events totaling to $7870. http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/festival.php?a=r&n=4862

I shouldn't be going down there this weekend though since my plan was to just keep playing sick amounts of hands until jackpot was over so I know I did everything I could to win it. It's expected to end based on what the site tells me in December which is before the Winter open though so i'm def going to that. This has been my worst month since the jackpot has started. I've only got in like 60k hands so far on the month, which for 12 tabling isn't that much at all. My past 5 months or so i've got in like 180k hands, 120k, 150k, 130k or so as a rough estimate. My rakebacks are usually pretty damn big.... like 5k+ usually and this month i'm only at like $2500.

I recently hired a coach off 2+2 that's not very well liked by the name of TheMetetron. He was offering some kind of coaching special on the first few students he selected and since he'd posted some pretty impressive results on 2+2 I decided i'd just go ahead and try it out. The sketchy part is that he actually ripped me off on a prop bet on the forum a long time ago. He made some thread betting he would play some # of hands and when he lost he didn't pay out and I hassled him about it for a while and he never paid. Reason I decided anyway to get coaching from him though was because I was going to be emailing him from a name he didn't recognize and I made a read that with his new coaching career just starting it would be a -EV long term for him to steal my money and have me post about it publicly. It's been like 2 weeks and he JUST now today sent me back the video review and for like a good 4 day stretch wasn't even responding to my emails. I had to make a new account on 2p2 (he knew my other one from when he ripped me off) just to PM him and ask him what was up... since on 2p2 you know if someones read your msg. I'll check that video out and post back later my thoughts.
