Back from Weekend

Well I got back in from the Mountaineer Casino in West Virginia Sunday night. I was sooooooooo exhausted. I drove us down there on Friday for 6 hours or so and we got there probablyu at like 11pm or so. We played the whole night and I probably didn't end up going to sleep until 11am. I also hadn't slept more than 3 hours on Thursday night either so I was already kinda running low on sleep. So I play 2/5 nl the first night there figuring i'd see how the games are first and ended up just getting into a 2/5 nl game and not getting up. The game started off pretty good... nice and loose, but then later on in the night it was basically all tight ABC players left at my table and I was stuck in this 4 handed game where not much was happening the whole time. I ended up like +74 the first night. We end up leaving and getting our room at like 6-7am probably at which point we are told we're going to have to get a room for Friday night because checkin for Saturday rooms isnt until 12 noon. We had specfically called them up and asked about this prior to going and was told otherwise. So now we end up havin to pay fora room or two nights which came to $300, $100 a piece.

Whatever, we didn't have any other option unless it was to sleep in the car which it was too freezing to do. So Mirth and KP pass out in the room and I stay up playing some poker online until like 11am and make like $300 or so. I was using my new laptop which I love... I can 9 table on it pretty easily where all tables are clickable at all times due to the bigger resolution. It's also very powerful, I downoaded counterstrike just to play that and see how it ran and it ran great. Felt like a pretty powerful machine with a nice smooth glossy screen. I then order some room service which was great before passing out. The hotel we were staying in was really really nice compared to how run down and trashy the rest of the area we drove through was. The whole town looked depressd, poor, and antique... very similar to my school. But the hotel we stayed in was very nice and the room service food was great. I ate that then just passed out and didn't wake back up until Mith and KP came busting back in at like 7pm waking me up.

When I woke up we went back to the poker room, ate first and then started playing. I was originally waiting around for a 5/10 table to open up but when it was taking so long I just decided to do a 2/5 nl table instead while I waited. I ended up getting into some verbal alteraction with a 40 year old loud mouth fish at my table. We got into a dispute about some ruling in a hand... I was in a hand vs some fish who was in position vs me betting the flop and turn then I check river and he checks behind... I wanted him to show his hand first so I can see what he's doing this with and then this loudmouth idiot fish not even involved in hand starts yelling at me telling me to show my hand and hurry up. I didn't like the tone of his voice when he was talking to me so I told him to "stfu". I said some other stuff which I forget and he was talking shit back so I just decided to challenge him to heads up since playing a fish heads up is about the most profitable scenario you can get in poker. He and I then request to get our own heads up table which becomes the talk of the whole casino supposedly. Staff members were walking up to us during our game and saying how everyone upstairs is talking about it and how they've never seen anythingl ike it.

Didn't seem that big of a deal to me since id played fish heads up online numerous times and for more money. I basically was there to make money on the weekend anyway and since live poker is so slow to begin with this seemed perfect for me. So during our match the guy is constantly trying to needle me while we are going back and forth talking about poker. He tries to tell me that he's seen more hands in his lifetime than I have at which point I clearly try to explain to him why he's ignornat and how i've probably seen more hands than Doyle Brunson with the high volume 12 tabling ive done and play over the past couple of years. He kept bringing this up telling it to rail birds because he thought it sounded ridiculous. I just simply kept calling him ignorant and continuing to focus on the game. I was losing the heads up too btw due to some cold decks and runner runners that he kept on getting, but heads up live we probably played only a total of 100 hands.. so anything can hapen. I'd just played a fish earlier that morning online before going to sleep for probably like 2000 hands where he was up on me one point $1000 but I came back near the end and finished him off... so 100 hands live is nothing.

I ended up playing him for a while longer and then ended up down like $250 vs him before he quit me. I almost got into a fight with him which I won't bother posting here about. I grinded out the rest of the night at the 2/5 nl table which was very uneventful. Ended up down like $600 on the weekend overall live after paying for the room and stuff. I didn't go to sleep that night and ended up driving home at 12 noon and was exhausted trying to keep my eyes open the whole time. The casino overall was not worth going to over AC... games were not much easier and it was far away. Probably won't be going back.

New blog and Coaching session

Well I decided to start a blog mainly for myself to track my own progress as a player and organize my thoughts so I don't feel like my head is spinning at times. I'm basically going to be just unloading whatevers on my mind with poker, finance, investing, and business. No real goals with this blog other than to keep me focused on improving in both areas of investing and poker. At the moment, alot of my time is primarily spend focusing on poker since i'm in the process of trying to win a $52k jackpot on the site that I play, cake poker. Basically the site awards whoever pays the most in rake pretty much as an easy way of explaining it, but for the players that are in the top 5 in the runnings.. theres an element of luck because if any of those 5 players runs lucky near the end they can win the whole thing even though they don't have the most overall gold cards and didn't pay the most overall rake.

I believe at the moment i'm in the lead because I definitely play the most hands and pay the most rake on the site (was also told a few months back by some inside sources at cake poker that I was in the lead but i'm not nearly as confident now with my status). I wouldn't be surprised frankly if I lost it... at least i've been making money and rakeback the whole time though so i'm content with that. The only downside would be though that while 12 tabling at $1/2 nl i'm not really improving much as a player which is definitely one of my long term goals. I have played stakes all the way up to 10/20 nl when games are good and regularly at 5/10 nl.

But in the process of trying to win this jackpot I decided to drop the # of tables so I could generate more rake in easier games with less variance. I felt that 12 tabling 1/2 nl would be easier more consistent money as well as more rake (more gold cards for jackpot) instead of just 6 tabling 5/10 or something since alot of the time 5/10 nl only has like 2-3 games running anyway. I'll update later on the jackpot but as of right now i'm just focusing on continuing to play alot of hands and hoping I win it, if not... meh.

Also recently found out about 2 new casinos that were opened in West Virginia that i've heard are reaaaaaaally soft games so I am taking a trip down there this weekend with some friends. The casinos are actually like 2 hours from where I went to college, if they were there when I was in school I woulda went to class even less than I already did... probably flunking out, but I did finish it up back in May. I ordered a new laptop for poker since i'm going to be doing alot of traveling and can't take my desktop with me but still will wanna play on the road. Also ordered a pretty sweet device I didn't know about which will let me use the laptop with my two flat screens I already have so it'll basically be like a desktop when i'm at home that I can take on the road when traveling. http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/gxm/products/dh2go/digital/home.php

Will be getting that in a few days and definitely wanna try that out with me this weekend when I head out to the casino. If the games are that good at this new casino, then I might end up just giving live poker a month or so shot as an experient to see how I like it and how profitable the games are. Also in January am planning to head out to the Borgata Winter Open to play in all the events $1500 and lower which comes out to 11 events totaling to $7870. http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/festival.php?a=r&n=4862

I shouldn't be going down there this weekend though since my plan was to just keep playing sick amounts of hands until jackpot was over so I know I did everything I could to win it. It's expected to end based on what the site tells me in December which is before the Winter open though so i'm def going to that. This has been my worst month since the jackpot has started. I've only got in like 60k hands so far on the month, which for 12 tabling isn't that much at all. My past 5 months or so i've got in like 180k hands, 120k, 150k, 130k or so as a rough estimate. My rakebacks are usually pretty damn big.... like 5k+ usually and this month i'm only at like $2500.

I recently hired a coach off 2+2 that's not very well liked by the name of TheMetetron. He was offering some kind of coaching special on the first few students he selected and since he'd posted some pretty impressive results on 2+2 I decided i'd just go ahead and try it out. The sketchy part is that he actually ripped me off on a prop bet on the forum a long time ago. He made some thread betting he would play some # of hands and when he lost he didn't pay out and I hassled him about it for a while and he never paid. Reason I decided anyway to get coaching from him though was because I was going to be emailing him from a name he didn't recognize and I made a read that with his new coaching career just starting it would be a -EV long term for him to steal my money and have me post about it publicly. It's been like 2 weeks and he JUST now today sent me back the video review and for like a good 4 day stretch wasn't even responding to my emails. I had to make a new account on 2p2 (he knew my other one from when he ripped me off) just to PM him and ask him what was up... since on 2p2 you know if someones read your msg. I'll check that video out and post back later my thoughts.
